Look Out! Look Out! There's Lice about!!!
Yes we have nasty little nitties amongst our team. Please check at home and treat if you find any. Kathryn has information on the best ways to get rid of the beasts. For girls it's very important that hair is well tied back. Good luck - they are not easy to vanquish.

Triathlon Changes
Format for TUESDAY - Triathlon Day
Due to the forecast weather tomorrow, the format and time for Triathlon HAS CHANGED.
The Triathlon will now begin at 9.30am and will run in the following way…
Aspire, Explore and Discover children will now
1. RUN
2. BIKE
3. SWIM
The distances remain the same, although there are some small organisation tips that you need to know.
The course is now as follows -
1. Start on the field outside the WEST side of the MPF - Teacher directed.
2. Run the school field in the opposite direction (it will be taped off so you can follow it), run in front of the Senior Team classes, and over the road to enter Rice Park THROUGH THE SMALL GATE. The Rice Park distances and directions remain the same (CLOCKWISE).
3. Once the run is finished, head to Pene and her helpers at the bikes, and get your bike. EXIT RICE PARK FROM THE LARGE GATE and head out on your bike leg.
4. Complete your bike leg as per usual (in the school car park) and a marshal will be there waiting to help you.
5. Run in front of the office, and in front of the library towards the pool. You need to stop on the grass area and take off your shorts, tee shirts and shoes/socks etc. Leave them in a tidy pile to find later!
6. Swim your lengths - these have not changed.
7. Exit the pool - run in front of Ignite, the MPF and back around to the start/finish line.
TEAM BIKERS -
IF you are NOT running with your team members, you need to wait on the concrete outside the tennis clubrooms at Rice Park.
TEAM SWIMMERS -
Your team biker will tag you outside the pool area on the grass. You will then head into the pool area.
BIKES -
Children need to bring their bikes to RICE PARK BEFORE school - Pene will be there to receive them from 8am onwards. Please follow her instructions as these bikes need to be placed in RACE ORDER.
SPECTATORS -
ALL spectators are to stand on the court or on the grass OUTSIDE of the pool. Please do not get in the way of the children competing.
The coffee van will be on the court also.
Races will be started every 15 minutes thereafter, although if the weather looks to be closing in we will shorten this timing.
All going well we should be done and dusted by 11.00am.

Lost property
Unfortunately this is a perennial problem! We have a huge amount of unnamed property, which has now gone down to the Library lost property. We also have some students who have lost sweatshirts, jackets and hats, even though they are named. Please check at home to make sure you have the right clothing, and if you are missing anything we suggest you check the Library basket.

Calling All Keen Councillors!
Are you organised, confident, enthusiastic and creative? Then you should be standing for the Clarkville Student Council to become a CHOICE councillor (Confident Heroes Organising Incredibly Creative Events) and represent Team Discover.
You need to prepare a 1 minute presentation saying why YOU would be the best person for the job.

Oops you might need to read this one lying on your side.
MINT Think Tank Applications are open
Want to join the MINT THINK TANK? A group of creative, out of the box, curriculum experts that help the teachers to run the school? Then you need to prepare a speech that is at least one minute long and present it in front of the MINT team next Friday (7 March) at 1.20pm. You can make posters / powerpoints if you want to, but you do not have to. More information will be delivered to your team on Monday morning.

Trip to town
What a fabulous day in town. We saw lots of interesting things in the museum and asked a lot of questions. Banksy made us think with his pictures.
The weather was kind to us and off we went to look at the Festival of Flowers amongst other art instalments.

Technology Frustration
Isn't technology a wonderful thing when it's working? We thank you all for your patience and understanding over the last week or more while we have had no internet. We know how frustrating it is when things aren't on the blog when you want them to be. Hopefully the gnomes who were in the office today when we left know how to fix the problem and we'll be back up and running again by tomorrow.
Cheers

Cities are like puzzles
Tomorrow marks the third anniversary of the Christchurch Earthquake. This was written by one of our Year 8 boys to commemorate the anniversary in Assembly this morning.
Three years ago when the door was the haven from the crumbling floor, our strength was strained and courage crushed, beams buckled, buildings broke, we needed a light. After the earthquake, aftershocks struck, liquefaction leaked along with our stories. Cats ran, dogs strayed and howled, hoarders gathered their shattered treasures off the ground. The world had dug us a very deep hole. There were casualties, and in our hearts were scars for life.
But cities are like puzzles, except you choose the pieces to fill the holes, and the more people helping the faster it grows. Now is the time to think about what piece you will or already have contributed to help this city get on its feet!

Mini-ball
MiniBall
There is an opportunity for our Year 3 and 4 children to be involved in a Miniball competition to be held in the Ohoka School Hall on a Tuesday after school.
It would cost $30 a player and there needs to be 8 players in each team.
There would need to be a parent taking responsibility for the team.
If you would like to know more the poster is in Wharehui or talk to either Lynley or Sue.

Holidays
While Ms B is playing in the cold I have been in the North Island catching up with family. We have been to Hot Water Beach and up the Sky Tower. Here is a picture of my English nieces leaning on the glass on the observation deck and some one jumping off the side of the tower.

Hello again from the U.S of A
Well we survived the BIG STORM, which in actual fact was not as bad as we thought it would be, but definitely colder than in NZ. Here are some pics from New York. We have now arrived in Washington, just as the next big storm is due to arrive.
Hope you are all enjoying the holidays, wherever you may be.
