A Grand Design

Ella, Charlotte and Annie Banannie all looked up this GRAND DESIGN together. It was really fun . And one day they will have a house like it.

What Grand Designs have you visited?

It made us think about what Grand Designs everyone has been to visit. Please post your reply and maybe a little story about it, too. We'd love to hear your stories.

Infrastructure Building

We learnt about Infrastructures and how we needed them to bring people together.

We were making a tunnel. 

We learnt how to make a tunnel big and round. It wasn't easy to build a tunnel.

We're building a tunnel. 

Tunnels can be big and small.

We're making a big ditch for the water to flow down. 

It helps the water to flow down the hill and away.

We had to make a bridge. We chose the Golden Gate Bridge.

It was quite hard to make a bridge.

We were making an Eiffel Tower.

We had to make a stand at the bottom so we could make it taller.

We were building the Eiffel Tower. 

We made it taller than us.

We were building a tower. We learnt that towers take a while to build.

I am building the Eiffel Tower. 

You need a certain amount of material to make the tower.

This is our tunnel. We were trying to build the Chunnel Tunnel. 

This was easier to build than the Chunnel Tunnel would have been, because that was under the sea.

We are in the tunnel group and we're trying to build a tunnel with the sand.

Are we fit enough?

Look at us practising for cross country. It was a bit harder than we thought.

ChiLLing in the Morning with Grand Designs

Grand Designs is our theme for the term. 

These Grand Designs have been made during ChiLL in the morning and at home.

Come into our learning space to see more Grand Designs.

Guidelines for commenting on blogs

Some of the Aspire children have been working on some guidelines to help people to comment on the blog.  Here they are and please make sure you follow them.

1. Do not use peoples names, only refer to their screen names

2. Spelling should be correct and do not use text language

3. Punctuation is (always) important -please use capital letters

Also, to comment on an image or post, click on where it says how many comments there are been.  Then you will be able to add comments.  All comments will first be approved by the blog admin, so it may not appear straight away.

Swimming Sports

Swimming Sports

On the day of the Discover swimming sports I did gliding, starfish, a dressing up running race and a not dressing up running race. At the beginning I was excited because it was my first time.

What I liked about the swimming sports is the underwater swim.

I liked it at the swimming sports because we did a running race.

My best thing about school is swimming.

I liked it when everyone cheered for me when I came first. I didn't like it when I got in and it was cold.

In the swimming sports Cassie came first in the underwater race. Grace came 2nd, Lachlan came 3rd. In the last race we did a relay. We had to wear a hat and a apron.

I liked the swimming sports because we had to wear aprons and shower caps.

My favourite part was swimming. I am fast at swimming and I love it too. I got first in every race. I am 7 and I was competing against 8 year olds.

Week One in Discover

Wow, fabulous fun in our first week at school. What a wonderful team of learners in Discover.

We've had a great start with the Construction theme this year. Lots of costumes and ideas with how we are going to design our classroom.

Dear Parents,

This is a list of stationery items required for Team Discover. They are available in packs from Officemax, or you can buy separately from any stationers, except for the Maths book for year 4’s, which will be available from the School Office.

Please name all books as listed.  Any books of the same type from the end of this year, which are still largely unused may be used, rather than buying new.

Please name the pencils, whiteboard marker, ruler, biros and 1 glue stick. The remainder will be held for shared use.

Reading folders and whiteboards may be reused from previous years. Please purchase a new one if required.

Please name clearly.

Stationery may be brought to school in the first week, but will not be required for use until Week 2 (February 7).

We cannot stress enough the importance of clearly naming every item, as it is impossible to track the owners of unnamed bits and pieces. Please discourage students from bringing expensive or precious items
