Welcome back to 2017
Check out some photos from our first few days in Team Discover/Tūhura!
Welcome back to everyone!
Kia U ki te Pai - Hold fast to all that is good.
We hope you have had a fantastic Christmas and New Year period and are as keen as we are for the new school year to begin.
Lynley enjoyed a family Christmas in Queenstown and then had another great holiday camping up in Tukurua, where she enjoyed a relaxing time with family and friends.
Paula headed away on a North Island road trip and can now say that she has been from Cape Reinga to Bluff. She enjoyed fantastic weather, did lots of walks, kayaking and being with her family.
Goal Setting Day:
Just a reminder that goal setting day is on Tuesday 31 January, please remember to bring your filled out goal sheets along with you. In your hour slotted time you will have a Tictactoe to complete, so children be ready to help your parents work their way around a Tictactoe.
Staffing:
This year our part-time teacher in Tūhura is Sara Ashby, who has worked in Explore for the last two years. Sara has many years of teaching experience and we are really excited about the new ideas she will bring to our team. Sara will be around for part of Goal Setting day, so please introduce yourself.
We are also very excited to have Hayley in our team again this year, and for the same hours.
BLOG - it is really important that you check the blog a couple of times a week to see what is happening in our team. We are looking at some new learning opportunities for Tūhura this year and information on this and how you can access these learning tools will be through the blog.

Important Info from the PTA
PTA REMINDERS
Super Sausage Sizzle
This Friday 25th November we are holding our last sausage sizzle for the year - a Super Sausage Sizzle where children are able to purchase a sausage combo, including a sausage in bread plus a can of soft drink for $3. Or if they prefer they can just order a sausage as usual for $2. Remember that you can order this via the Wrap It Up system or in the library on Friday morning.
Pene's Farewell Gift
The PTA would like to organise a leaving gift for Pene on behalf of any Clarkville School families who would like to participate. We have a gift in mind so would appreciate any financial contributions towards this. You can put your donation into the Office post slot which is accessible via the front of Kathryn's desk or there will be a box in each team which you can also use. All money will be collected by Wednesday 7th December. Thank you.
Kaiapoi Carnival BBQ
We have been asked to run a sausage sizzle at the Kaiapoi Christmas Carnival on the evening of Friday 2 December from 4pm - 9:30pm. The sausages are being donated by Hellers so this is a fantastic fundraising opportunity for us to get a head start on 2017. We are looking for volunteers to help out with shifts (3 people per shift). Shifts will be 4-6pm; 6-8pm; 8-9:30/10pm. Perhaps you were going to head down to the carnival anyway and could help out for a couple of hours. Sign up sheets are in each classroom or you can email us at clarkvillepta@gmail.com.
Firewood
A school parent, Daryl Brown, still has some cheap firewood for sale with proceeds going to the school. $30 per trailer load. The wood is sitting in piles in his paddock and will need to be collected and chopped before Christmas. Please email if you are interested: clarkvillepta@ gmail.com.
