Basic Facts-a-thon

It's time to get those basic facts out and practice, practice, practice.

Clarkville school is having a Basic Facts-a-thon right now to raise money for Stage 3 of the playground.

Get your sponsors or sponsor someone else, learn more basic facts and be ready for the test on Friday the 19th of April!!!

Easter Break

A new post is long overdue! We will have some photos of Team Discover enjoying the new Eagle's Nest next week, but in the meantime here's Ms B's beautiful family at the Bruce Springsteen concert in Melbourne over Easter. Something else from the bucket list ticked off.

The Discovering Place

A few friends from Discover were digging underneath a big rock. All four of us pulled the rock up and flipped it upside down. We found heaps of bugs and insects. We got some magnifying glasses and started searching. These are some of the photos we took.

WOW!!!!! We were buzzing, lots of excitement and awe and wonder on Thursday. Two groups who are performing at the Lantern Festival at Hagley Park this weekend came and performed at school. Have a look at this clip!!

Waitangi Day

On Waitangi Day we like to do something to celebrate living in such a beautiful country. This year we walked through Cave Stream near Castle Hill. Very cold and quite scary! How do other people celebrate our special day?

First days in Team Discover

We have been having a busy time getting to know everyone in Team Discover.

Some of us are quite tired and very pleased to have a break for Waitangi Day tomorrow.

Where has Ms B been for her holidays?

I have had a wonderful time on holiday spending time with my family. Do you recognise where I've been?

Now I'm back in Christchurch and Mrs Edwards and I are looking forward to catching up with everyone next Friday. If you have a favourite photo from your holiday bring it with you to your goal setting session. Remember to bring your completed goal sheet with you as well. The times for goal setting have been posted below, along with stationery lists.

Stationery List for 2013

Dear Parents,

This is a list of stationery items required for Team Discover. They are available in packs from Officemax, or you can buy separately from any stationers, except for the Maths book for Year 4’s, which will be available from the School Office.

Please name all books as listed. 

Any books of the same type from the end of this year, which are still largely unused may be used, rather than buying new.

Reading folders and whiteboards may be reused from previous years. Please purchase a new one if required.

Please name clearly ALL STATIONERY ITEMS.

Stationery may be brought to school in the first week, but will not be required for use until THURSDAY FEBRUARY 7.

We cannot stress enough the importance of clearly naming every item, as it is impossible to track the owners of unnamed bits and pieces. Please discourage students from bringing expensive or precious items.

Covering Books

We have found that books which are covered, generally stay together better and attract less “graffiti” than uncovered ones. Ezcovers may be ordered through www.ezcover.co.nz/. These are cheaper than buying duraseal and covering them yourself.
